Answers to Ch. 35-44 questions
1) Ida Spavento planned to help the children by getting Hornet released from the orphanage, assisting in locating Prosper and Bo, and offering her home to all of the children.
2) Hornet was released from the orphanage quickly because Ida, who had grown up there, had also given generous donations to the nun and was trusted and beloved by them. They believed Ida’s story that she was Hornet’s godmother.
3) Proper worried that he would lose Bo to his aunt and uncle forever because within a week they would be leaving Venice and taking Bo home with them.
4) Riccio believed that with Victor’s help, Ida would find a way to get Bo out of the clutches of the Hartliebs because she had been so successful at getting Hornet out of her predicament.
5) Prosper agreed to go with Scipio to the Isola Segreto beause he, too wanted to ride the magic merry-go-round so that he could become an adult. He believed that would solve his problems.
6) Morosina forced Scipio and Prosper to obey her by threatening to turn the watch dogs on them; the dogs were potential killers.
7) The Hartliebs decided not to adopt Bo because he had run away after behaving so badly that they were evicted from their hotel.
8) Victor went to the old Star Palace theater because he guessed correctly that Bo, once he had run away from his aunt and uncle, would return to the hideout in search of his brother and the rest of the gang.
9.) Scipio concluded that the merry-go-round worked as soon as he realized that Renzo and Morosina were really the Conte and Contessa rejuvenated.
10.) Renzo told Barbarossa to ride the lion so that the junk dealer would be turned into a young child with ho power to threaten the others.
11.) As a result of Barbarossa’s wild ride, he became a child of four or five
and accidentally broke the merry-go-round, leaving Scipio as an adult and
ending the magic once and for all.
