Course Policy: AP Statistics
- I will give you about four
tests in each of the first three quarters. Your grades will largely be an
average of your scores in these tests, though from time to time I might give a
written assignment. In the fourth quarter your grade will consist largely of
your scores in AP questions that I assign for homework.
- In the tests, the method
and reasoning with which you reach your answer are the important factors – the
correctness of your conclusion is of little relevance in comparison. In
particular, a correct numerical answer with no work is likely to get zero.
- In the tests, you will not
be allowed to store in your calculator any helpful programs or other such
devices. Everything that could be considered to be in this category should be
deleted from your calculator before you enter the room for the test. (This
ruling also applies to the AP examination.)
- If you give multiple
answers to a question, I am supposed to grade the least good one. So put a
line through the version(s) of the answer that you do not want to be graded.
- Clear communication is
absolutely essential in AP Statistics.
- When doing a graded
assignment, it is essential that you do not exchange any information specific
to that question with any person or source other than a Brunswick math
teacher. Use of the internet is not allowed in the context of graded
assignments.
- Even when homework is not
to be graded, it is essential that you do it properly. If necessary, a
point-docking system will be introduced to encourage this (1 point off your
quarter average for every lapsed homework beyond the first two lapses in the
quarter).
- If you have any difficulty
with your homework, please come and see me to sort out your confusion
before class. That way you can benefit fully from the exercises given in
the homework.
Enjoy the
course!
