These words express various degrees of frequency from:

never = nunca à to always – siempre

 

 

 

-         Frecuencia = frequency

-         A veces = sometimes

-         Frecuentemente = frequently

-         Nunca = never / not ever

-         Casi nunca = almost never

-         Raras veces = rarely

-         Siempre = always

-         Casi siempre = Almost always

-         Todos los días = every day

-         Los fines de semana = On the weekends

-         Los dias entre semana = weekdays

-         Los lunes = On Mondays

-         Los martes, miercoles… = on Tuesdays…

 

 

Indefinite and negative words: indefinite words are words that do not refer to anything or anybody specific. There some indefinite words that have contrasting negative forms:

Alguien = somebody

Nadie = nobody – not anybody

Siempre = always

Nunca = never

A veces = sometimes

Raras veces = seldom

 

You have learn in the past that the most common way to make a Spanish sentence negative is to put the word “no” before the verb.

The verb IR: is an irregular verb and it means to go

 

IR = to go

IR + a + infinitivo: to talk about what you are going to do

 

Voy a limpiar la casa = I’m going to clean the house.

Van a jugar al fútbol = They’re going to play soccer.

¿Qué vas a hacer? = What are you going to do?

Vamos a nadar en la piscina = We are going to swim in the pool.

Voy a calificar exámenes = I’m going to grade exams.

Vamos a vivir en Greenwich = We’re going to live in Greenwich.

Ella va a comer chocolate = She is going to eat chocolate.

 

 

Going places: Ir + …

 

A + el = al = When “a” is followed by “el”, the contraction “al” is formed.

This happens when we are talking in masculine but not feminine.

 

A + el = al    (for masculine singular)

A + la = a la   (for feminine singular)

A + los = a los (for masculine plural)

A + las = a las (for femenine plural)

 

- Nos vamos al cine = We are going to the movies – masculine.

- Matt va a la cafetería = Matt is going to the cafeteria – feminine.

- David va al restaurante = David is going to the restaurant – masculine.

- Los chicos van al parque = The boys are going to the park.

Expresiones del tiempo - Weather expressions

In Spanish when you talk about the weather we use the third-person singular of the verb “hacer”:

 

¿Qué tiempo hace?

-         Hace sol = It’s sunny.

-         Hace mucho sol = It’s very sunny.

-         Hace viento = It’s windy.

-         Hace mucho viento = It’s very windy.

-         Hace frio = It’s cold.

-         Hace mucho frío = It’s very cold.

-         Hace calor = It’s hot.

-         Hace mucho calor = It’s very hot

-         Hace buen tiempo = The weather is good.

-         Hace muy buen tiempo = The weather is very good.

-         Hace mal tiempo = The weather is bad.

-         Hace muy mal tiempo = The weather is very bad.

-         Hace fresco = It’s cool.

 

 

      

-         Está lloviendo  or   llueve = It is raining

-         Está nevando   or   nieva = It is snowing

 

 

 

This is to indicate that it is raining or snowing but if you have to make a general statement you used the third-person singular of the verbs “llover” and “nevar”:

 

-         Nieva mucho por aquí = It snows a lot around here.

-         Llueve muy poco por aquí = It rains very little around here.
