Monday October 1st        Read Beowulf pages 43-56 (lines 1651-2199)

Wednesday October 3rd         Read Beowulf pages 56-63 (lines 2200-2509)

Thursday October 4th           Finish Beowulf         

Friday October 9th       Review for Beowulf test. Each member of the class must bring 13 printed out copies (no more than one page per copy) of a quotation response exercise. Your sheet should contain three quotations from the text that you feel are important, each for their own separate reasons, as they relate to warrior culture or any of the major themes we have discussed regarding Beowulf. Your response should be well written, it should identify the speaker, the context and its importance to 7th century Danish warrior culture. We will discuss in class prior to the due date of the assignment. 

Wednesday October 10th    Beowulf Quotation Test

Thursday October 12th        We will do some in class work on your Beowulf papers.   

Tuesday October 16th        Beowulf papers due in class.   Read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Fit I pages 21-39.

Thursday October 18th     Read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Fit II pages 40-63. Vocabulary lesson #2 Due. All exercises on pages 9-12. Your quiz will be on Friday.

Friday October 19th     Read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight The Pentangle and its Significance (pages 147-149). Vocabulary quiz.

Tuesday October 23rd     Read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Fit III pages 64-95.

Wednesday October 24th    Read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Fit IV pages 96-115.

Thursday October 25th    Vocabulary lesson #3 Due. Pages 15-18. Quiz in class.

Monday October 29th     Nothing new due. Please bring to class your computers as you will begin work on your Sir Gawain projects.

Tuesday October 30th    "Quotation Class." Come to class with 13 copies of your quotation analysis. Three quotations from Sir Gawain and a well written analysis of each quotation.
