It was a beautiful
spring day on Saturday afternoon, and was an especially great day for
the Brunswick Crew Team. The Brunswick Crew Team started off the season
with their first regatta, the Greenwich Invitational, hosted by
Greenwich Rowing Club. The event took place at Indian Harbor and the
total distance of this particular race was 1000 meters. The first boat
set out to launch and easily destroyed their competitors. Keeping in
form with the first boat, the second boat set out and also won their
race. At the starting line there was some confusion, and the fourth boat
ended up racing in the third boat's race. Despite the mix-up, the fourth
boat still won the heat. Finally, the third boat was able to race and
easily subdued their contestants and won their heat. It was an amazing
start of the season and it is especially rare when all four boats of one
team win each of their races. Hopefully this is a forecast of some of
the good rowing that will take place as the season progresses. Wick crew
next sets its eyes on the Mercer Lake Sprints on Saturday in New
Jersey.
